About the Role

Step into a vital nursing role from the comfort of your own home. As a Remote Triage Nurse RN, you will serve as the first line of clinical communication for patients seeking urgent medical guidance. Using your clinical judgment, calm demeanor, and experience in patient care, you’ll offer timely advice, determine care priorities, and ensure each caller receives safe, informed, and compassionate guidance. This position plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between patients and immediate care resources, particularly when time and clarity are most critical.

Key Responsibilities

Patient-Centered Triage

  • Answer incoming calls from patients and caregivers seeking medical advice.
  • Conduct thorough assessments based on symptoms and medical history.
  • Utilize established triage protocols to determine the level of care urgency.
  • Guide patients to appropriate next steps—whether it's home care, telemedicine, or emergency services.
  • Communicate instructions, next steps, and follow-up actions.

Clinical Judgment and Documentation

  • Apply sound nursing judgment to make accurate clinical decisions.
  • Document each encounter thoroughly in the electronic health record system.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and compliant notes on patient assessments and recommendations.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with providers, clinics, and telehealth teams when escalation is required.
  • Assist with follow-ups or referrals as directed by protocols or as instructed by the provider.
  • Help ensure seamless transitions in care for patients needing additional services.

Professional Standards and Compliance

  • Maintain full compliance with all HIPAA guidelines and nursing protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay up to date on triage standards.
  • Support quality assurance efforts by participating in chart reviews and peer feedback.

This is a fully remote position designed for nurses who thrive in a focused, independent, and tech-enabled environment. You’ll be set up with a virtual desktop, access to triage tools, and an intuitive clinical documentation system. Though remote, this role is never isolated—you'll be part of a larger virtual care team that shares updates, collaborates through chat tools, and supports one another in real time.

Tools & Technology

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted RN license in at least one U.S. state
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in acute care, ER, or urgent care
  • Prior experience with telephone triage or telehealth is preferred
  • Proficiency with digital tools, EHR systems, and call documentation software
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, empathetic communication style
  • Ability to follow structured triage protocols while applying critical thinking
  • Reliable internet connection and a private, quiet home office setup

Preferred Attributes
