Remote Scientific Proofreader
Description
Remote Scientific Proofreader
Shape the Language of Scientific Discovery
Can your keen eye spot the nuance between "statistical significance" and "clinical relevance"? Do you instinctively reach for a style guide when something feels off by a single comma? Then you're already one of us—we're just waiting to meet you.
This role is about more than just correcting grammar or fixing formatting. It's about elevating groundbreaking research, shaping how discoveries are communicated, and ensuring clarity that upholds scientific integrity. From neuroscience to nanotech, you'll refine manuscripts that drive innovation worldwide.
The Impact You’ll Create
Empower Researchers Through Language
- Refine manuscripts written by non-native English speakers to ensure their research stands out without language barriers.
- Apply publication-specific formatting styles (e.g., APA, AMA, Chicago) to make papers submission-ready.
- Ensure consistency in tone, terminology, and structure across the entire research document.
- Flag ambiguous phrasing or misused terms that could misrepresent data.
- Suggest revisions that maintain the author’s intent while enhancing readability.
- Catch errors AI tools miss—from mismatched figure citations to subtle shifts in tense.
You won’t just be proofreading for clarity. You’ll partner with authors to help their research communicate effectively to the scientific world.
What Your Day Will Look Like

You'll work on manuscripts in disciplines you're familiar with (and some that might surprise you). Whether it's biology, physics, or computational modeling, your editorial intuition will guide you.
Connected, Even When Remote
Our remote proofreading team communicates asynchronously. You’ll check in through Slack, use our editorial platform for assignments, and participate in optional weekly syncs for knowledge sharing.
