What You'll Do as a Remote Nurse Auditor RN
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth clinical audits on patient records, billing documents, and reimbursement claims to identify documentation gaps and compliance risks.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as CMS, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards.
- Educate care teams on clinical best practices, documentation accuracy, and audit findings to enhance quality assurance.
- Prepare concise reports and summaries based on audit results using data insights to recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of compliance protocols and training materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nursing standards, federal and state regulations, and payer policies.
Who You Are
Qualifications and Skills
- Active and unrestricted RN license in the U.S.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience, preferably in auditing, case management, or utilization review.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare billing systems.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate clinical data accurately and fairly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for producing thorough audit documentation and interacting with diverse teams.
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) preferred.
