Remote Frontend Performance Engineer

Description

Remote Frontend Performance Engineer

Shape the Speed of Tomorrow’s Web

Does your passion for digital performance translate into seamless, lightning-fast experiences? When every millisecond matters, your work doesn’t just improve load times—it redefines what’s possible for millions online. As a Remote Frontend Performance Engineer, you’ll architect, analyze, and elevate the systems that drive user satisfaction worldwide. This is your chance to create an impact you can measure in real-time, all while thriving in a collaborative remote environment.

Why This Role Changes Everything

Imagine your code enabling product launches that reach 50,000 users in under a second. You won’t just maintain standards—you’ll set them. Your optimizations reduce frustration and unlock delight, one micro-interaction at a time. Instead of being another cog, you’ll own the narrative of whatfastreally feels like, pushing the envelope of browser performance, accessibility, and scalability.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Transform frontends into high-performance engines: Dive deep into codebases, refactor bottlenecks, and implement advanced caching, lazy loading, and code-splitting strategies that users will instantly notice.
  • Drive metrics that matter: Whether it’s improving Core Web Vitals, reducing first-paint times, or reducing JavaScript bundle size, your work is visible and essential.
  • Guide architecture for global scale: Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ship features reliably, whether that means optimizing asset pipelines, leveraging edge networks, or building performance budgets that align with business goals.
  • Mentor and empower: Share your expertise in real-time reviews, knowledge shares, and asynchronous feedback. When others have questions, you break down complex concepts in plain English—be it over Zoom, in code reviews, or in Slack threads.
  • Champion accessibility and best practices: Every optimization should be inclusive. You’ll ensure that everyone—regardless of device or bandwidth—experiences the product at its best.
  • Lead by example: You automate away repetition and prototype new approaches, inspiring your peers to think beyond convention.

How You’ll Work

You’ll plug into a fully remote, globally distributed product team. Our toolkit includes Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and automated CI/CD pipelines. Documentation lives in Notion, feedback happens in Slack, and sprint planning is streamlined in Jira. You’ll shape your days for focus: deep work blocks for debugging, punctuated by brief, purposeful check-ins to sync on priorities and share wins.

Tools & Technologies You’ll Master

  • Modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
  • CSS-in-JS and advanced layout strategies (Grid, Flexbox, custom properties)
  • Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and RUM analytics for actionable insights
  • CDNs, SSR/SSG, and static asset optimization pipelines
  • Real-user monitoring tools to validate performance in the wild
  • Automated testing (Jest, Cypress) and code quality gates

Who Thrives Here

You see every frame drop and delay as an opportunity, not a flaw. You’ve spent years not just building UIs but making them feel instantaneous, using everything from service workers to HTTP/2 push. You enjoy turning user research feedback into actionable improvements. You’re adept at translating raw numbers into powerful stories for stakeholders, showing how a 200ms gain can drive conversions or retention. Above all, you simplify complexity—explaining thewhybehind performance to teammates and stakeholders, regardless of their technical background.

What Sets You Apart

  • Demonstrated success in scaling web applications to support massive, global audiences
  • Mastery of advanced performance profiling and debugging
  • Deep understanding of accessibility, internationalization, and responsive design
  • Experience with JAMstack and edge-first architectures
  • Creative approaches to overcoming network and device variability
  • Love for continuous learning and sharing knowledge

Impact & Growth

Every change you ship is measured in satisfaction, speed, and real business results. You’ll influence everything from feature prioritization to infrastructure investments. If you get excited about building something at scale—and seeing its effect ripple out instantly—you’ll feel right at home.

Salary & Perks

Remote from day one, you'll earn a yearly salary of $125,029with true flexibility in how and when you work. Enjoy the freedom to organize your days, share your perspective on key team decisions, and help shape a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture. Here, your input drives priorities and influences the evolution of front-end practices across the team.
