Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and retirement plan administration across all employee segments.
  • Lead benefits onboarding for new hires and provide continuous education to staff about available options
  • Manage annual open enrollment planning, communication, and execution
  • Resolve complex claims issues by acting as a liaison between employees and vendors
  • Ensure timely, accurate updates of all benefits data in the HRIS and payroll systems
  • Remain informed on relevant local, state, and federal laws related to employee benefits and incorporate any necessary policy changes
  • Maintain privacy and security of benefits-related records in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Collaborate closely with People Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to coordinate cross-functional updates
  • Track, analyze, and report benefits utilization metrics, helping leadership make informed decisions about plan offerings and improvements
  • Recommend policy adjustments to increase clarity, accessibility, or efficiency in the benefits process

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in benefits administration with exposure to multi-state or global benefits systems
  • Understanding of compliance obligations under ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and related legislation
  • Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects with care and attention to detail
  • Comfort using remote-first technology tools to communicate and execute workflows.
  • Familiarity with HRIS tools like BambooHR, Gusto, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for tracking, calculating, and presenting data trends
  • Strong judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential topics
  • Written and verbal communication skills that make complex topics clear and approachable
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist), SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification
  • Experience working within distributed or asynchronous organizations
  • Background working with both U.S.-based and international benefits programs
  • Knowledge of employee engagement initiatives, especially those tied to wellness programs
  • Prior involvement in technology rollouts or vendor transitions in HR settings

  • HR software such as BambooHR, ADP, or Gusto for centralized data management
  • Benefits portals, brokerage platforms, and insurance carrier systems for plan administration
  • Zoom, Slack, Notion, and Google Workspace for remote communication and collaboration
  • Excel, Google Sheets, and Airtable for analysis and audit tracking
  • Task coordination software, such as ClickUp or Monday.com, for organizing responsibilities and schedules
