Remote History Instructor (Online)

Description

Remote History Instructor (Online)

History isn’t just a subject—it’s a lens for understanding the world. In this fully remote teaching role, you’ll be more than an instructor. You’ll be a guide, a storyteller, and a mentor helping students draw connections between past events and present challenges. Your voice will help shape how learners view everything from ancient civilizations to modern revolutions.

You're Not Just Teaching—You're Transforming Perspectives

Rather than deliver lectures, you'll lead conversations. Students won’t just memorize dates—they’ll grapple with ideas, explore multiple viewpoints, and learn to ask more effective questions. Your classroom will be a place where ideas take root and grow.

We support you with ready-to-use materials, but we don’t limit you. If you want to introduce a new debate format, incorporate current events, or explore underrepresented histories, that creativity is welcomed and encouraged.

What Success Looks Like

  • Your students are active, engaged, and thinking deeply.
  • The classroom feels open and welcoming, even through a screen.
  • You bring empathy and context to tough conversations.
  • Students know your feedback helps them grow.
  • You teach with structure, but never with rigidity.

How You’ll Leave a Mark

  • Run live video classes that foster real dialogue, not one-way teaching.
  • Connect your lessons to what’s happening in the world right now.
  • Offer assignments that make students think, write, and reflect.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to bring in fresh ideas and thematic units.
  • Maintain an organized digital space so students always know where to look and what’s next.

The Tools That Keep You Connected

  • Zoom: for real-time teaching and group collaboration
  • Google Workspace: to create, share, and organize materials
  • Canvas: where students access coursework and submit assignments
  • Slack: for fast team check-ins and sharing wins
  • Miro: to create timelines, brainstorms, and visual lessons

You’ll also have access to a team that includes curriculum advisors, academic coaches, and experienced educators who can help when you hit a snag or want to try something new.

What You Bring

You understand that history is about people, context, and decisions—not just facts. You make space for big questions and don’t shy away from complexity. Students trust you because you meet them where they are and help them grow.

We’re looking for:

  • A background in History or a similar field (Master’s preferred but not required)
  • At least two years of experience teaching history
  • Skill in leading open, thoughtful discussions
  • Comfort with remote tools and virtual instruction
  • A teaching style that values inclusion and diverse perspectives

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience tailoring lessons for different learning preferences
  • An understanding of global or multilingual classrooms

What It’s Like to Be Part of Our Team

Even though we teach from different places, we’re not isolated. You’ll join a close-knit group that shares ideas freely, supports each other, and meets regularly to brainstorm and solve challenges together.

We’re not racing through material just to check boxes. You’ll have the time and space to teach thoughtfully. Our students come from a diverse range of cultural and educational backgrounds, and we strive to reflect this diversity in our teaching methods and hiring practices.

The Bigger Impact

You’re not just helping students pass a class—you’re helping them see the world in a new way. When you teach with care and purpose, it leaves a lasting impression. That’s the kind of impact this role is built around.

This is a salaried position with an annual salary of $58,099. More than a paycheck, this role offers the opportunity to make history meaningful and memorable for students worldwide.

Sound Like Your Kind of Work?

If you’re ready to teach history in a way that matters—and you’re excited about reaching students wherever they are—we’d love to hear from you. Let’s create learning experiences that stick with them long after the screen turns off.
