Remote Technical Writer (Job Tools Documentation)
Job Description
Remote Technical Writer (Job Tools Documentation)
Introduction: Shape Product Clarity Across the World
Imagine being the person whose words transform technical complexity into practical wisdom, impacting thousands of professionals daily. As our next Remote Technical Writer, you’ll empower global teams by translating intricate software concepts into intuitive, user-friendly documentation. This role is designed for someone who views documentation as more than just instruction—it’s about driving adoption, enhancing onboarding, and elevating the overall product experience. Suppose you thrive on clarifying the abstract and excel when you’re encouraged to ask questions, exchange ideas freely, and pursue accuracy at every turn. In that case, this is your invitation to leave your mark from anywhere.
Your Purpose & Impact
You’ll architect how users engage with job tools—from first login to expert-level mastery. By partnering with product managers, engineers, and designers, your contributions will simplify onboarding workflows, reduce friction, and boost customer satisfaction. Your documentation won’t just support feature launches; it will define them. Every guide, API reference, and release note you craft will help 30,000+ remote professionals excel in their roles. Your impact? Clearer products, faster learning curves, and a measurable reduction in support queries. We trust you to drive meaningful change, not just maintain a help center.
What You’ll Do: Core Responsibilities
- Shape the structure and voice of all end-user, admin, and developer-facing documentation for job tool products.
- Interview engineers, product leads, and end-users to extract the “why” behind each feature—your insights guide our feature lifecycle, not just describe it.
- Planned, wrote, and edited help center articles, onboarding guides, API docs, and in-app copy, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and approachability.
- Collaborate in remote alignment sessions using tools like Notion, Jira, and Figma—your feedback on workflows and user stories will directly influence product evolution.
- Review new features in staging, suggest usability improvements, and advocate for knowledge sharing during every sprint review.
- Gather and apply user feedback, iterating content in real-time to meet changing needs and elevate our product’s remote collaboration capabilities.
- Mentor teammates on best practices for internal documentation, reinforcing a culture of clarity and trust across disciplines.
Your Working Environment
Here, asynchronous communication is the norm, not the exception. Our remote-first team operates across multiple time zones using a carefully selected stack: Slack for conversations, Zoom for real-time collaboration, and Notion for single-source documentation. We believe you’ll do your best work with focus, so you’ll always have the space to dive deep, ask thoughtful questions, and build content that’s both actionable and inspiring. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, support, and design to deliver unified, customer-centric experiences. Your ability to simplify complex ideas—whether it’s over a quick Slack huddle or a thoughtful Notion doc—will set you apart and shape our user community.
Tools, Tech, and Methods
Our technical writing process is built around agile workflows. You’ll leverage Jira to manage content backlog, Notion to draft and share living documents, Figma to visualize product changes, and various code repos (GitHub, Bitbucket) to review release branches. We value automation, so experience with static site generators, Markdown, or docs-as-code is a plus. You’ll be a go-to expert in style guides, version control, and plain language principles. Your knack for adapting documentation for both seasoned developers and first-time users will keep our content accessible and engaging.
What Sets You Up for Success
- Demonstrated experience creating clear, concise technical documentation for SaaS products, job tools, or developer platforms.
- You love distilling complex flows into actionable guides that get users to “aha” moments faster.
- Track record of working in remote, agile environments, with the ability to prioritize and own multiple projects in parallel.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, command-line tools, or code samples is a strong plus, but your empathy for users is your superpower.
- You’re a champion for feedback: you proactively seek user insights and iterate rapidly.
- Your attention to detail is legendary. Typos and ambiguity don’t stand a chance.
- Above all, you believe words drive outcomes, not just understanding.
Compensation & Growth
This is a remote, full-time opportunity with an annual salary of $95,900. Beyond the number, you’ll enjoy the freedom to structure your days, focus on meaningful work, and make your expertise visible across a vibrant, global team. As the documentation leader, you’ll influence product direction, build your brand, and play a critical role in shaping the voice of our tools.
