Remote Cybersecurity Specialist
Job Description
Remote Cybersecurity Specialist
Join a Mission That Secures the Digital World
What if your expertise could protect businesses from digital threats before they happen? Here, it does. As a Remote Cybersecurity Specialist, you’ll serve as a trusted sentinel behind the screen, guarding systems and users with a sharp eye and strategic foresight. You won’t just be reacting to alerts—you’ll be architecting defenses that eliminate them.
What You’ll Impact Every Day
You’ll analyze threat intelligence data to detect and neutralize malicious behavior across distributed networks. Your recommendations will shape infrastructure changes used by thousands of users, creating secure environments where innovation can thrive. Whether it’s uncovering vulnerabilities or building proactive response protocols, your contributions directly prevent breaches and business disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Security Initiatives
- Lead threat assessments that inform product security updates adopted by our global user base.
- Develop and optimize incident response playbooks that reduce mitigation time by 60%.
Technical Monitoring and Response
- Continuously monitor firewalls, endpoints, and cloud systems to identify and flag anomalies proactively.
- Research evolving threats and simulate attacks to ensure our ecosystem is one step ahead of bad actors.
Infrastructure and Architecture
- Partner with infrastructure teams to design a network architecture that anticipates intrusion attempts before they occur.
- Manage third-party vulnerability scans, patch deployments, and access reviews.
Communication and Education
- Translate complex risk data into concise executive summaries that drive alignment between budget and security strategy.
- Educate internal stakeholders through concise, scenario-based cyber hygiene training.
Tools and Technologies
You’ll leverage a full-spectrum cybersecurity tech stack. From SIEM platforms like Splunk and QRadar to endpoint protection tools such as CrowdStrike and SentinelOne, your technical curiosity will stay well-fed.
Experience with cloud-native security frameworks (AWS Shield, Azure Defender) will set you up to succeed across our hybrid infrastructure. We also integrate threat intelligence feeds (Recorded Future, Mandiant), and our automated response stack runs through SOAR solutions like Palo Alto XSOAR and Microsoft Sentinel.
Collaboration in a Remote-First Culture
This is a fully remote role with async flexibility. You’ll connect with your security peers through Slack, Zoom, and Confluence. Code reviews, tabletop exercises, and post-mortems are collaborative moments that keep learning alive.
You’ll also work closely with engineering, data, and product teams to ensure security is embedded from the first line of code. We move quickly, but you’ll always have space to focus intensely. Expect structured autonomy, characterized by clear goals, context-rich documentation, and team rituals that foster thoughtful work.
Qualifications for Success
- 3–5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity operations, threat hunting, or security engineering.
- Deep familiarity with threat modeling, penetration testing, and risk analysis.
- Hands-on expertise with tools like Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, and Metasploit.
- Comfort navigating both Windows and Linux environments and securing containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
- The ability to simplify technical vulnerabilities for non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications like CISSP, CEH, or OSCP are a plus but not mandatory—real-world impact matters more.
What Success Looks Like
You’ll reduce incident escalation rates through automation. Your insights from simulated breaches will trigger strategic shifts in infrastructure. Your ability to demystify risk will earn the trust of leadership. Most importantly, your work will safeguard customer data while empowering innovation across the board.
Compensation and Benefits
We believe security experts should feel financially secure themselves. This role pays $92,000 annually, along with equity options and a wellness stipend. You’ll receive comprehensive healthcare, paid parental leave, and a remote work budget to personalize your setup.
Why This Role, Why Now?
Cyber threats don’t wait—and neither do we. As our user base expands and compliance needs grow, the need for vigilant cybersecurity leadership becomes increasingly critical. If you thrive in ambiguity, act decisively under pressure, and love thinking like a hacker to protect the good guys, this role is tailored for you.
Ready to Defend What Matters Most?
If you’re excited to shape enterprise-grade defenses while working from anywhere, we’d love to meet you. Let’s build a safer internet together—one proactive decision at a time.
Remote opportunity with global reach — applications are welcome from candidates in any country.
