Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a bit of a juggling act, honestly. You might start by following up on last week’s grant application, then switch gears to research a new funder, and later, spend a couple of hours writing or editing a proposal. There are usually check-ins with team members to talk through project details or data points, but a lot of your day is solo—headphones on, shaping stories and double-checking the facts.
There’s a mix. Some days you’re chasing large national grants for multi-year projects, other times it’s smaller community foundations or specific corporate funders. You’ll also get requests to draft letters of inquiry or reports for partners you’ve already built a relationship with. The variety keeps things interesting, and you get a sense of how each funder sees impact a little differently.
You get constant feedback on your writing—sometimes from funders, sometimes from the team. The learning curve is fast, especially as you pick up on what makes proposals stand out. There’s a chance to dive deep into causes you care about, learn the nuts and bolts of nonprofit funding, and sharpen skills in data storytelling. If you want, you can also pitch in on strategy or take the lead on more complex proposals as you grow.
Regular video calls are helpful, but a lot gets done through shared documents, chat threads, and project boards that you can update anytime. The team makes space for questions and feedback, and there’s always someone to bounce ideas off of. Even with everyone spread out, there’s a real sense of collaboration—especially when a big grant comes through and everyone’s celebrating together.
