Key Responsibilities

• Apply precise ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II classifications to cardiology procedures
• Interpret EKGs, cardiac catheterizations, stress tests, and other heart-related reports
• Ensure medical necessity is established through physician documentation

Compliance & Quality Standards

• Conduct internal audits and quality checks to identify potential discrepancies
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect sensitive patient health information

Revenue Cycle Management

• Contribute to clean claim submission and reduce denial rates
• Support reconciliation efforts by verifying accurate charges and services
• Assist in identifying coding trends that impact reimbursement
• Partner with billing teams to ensure prompt and precise claims processing

Tools & Technology

• Use cloud-based coding platforms and EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth
• Leverage coding support tools like 3M, EncoderPro, or Codify for reference
• Manage tasks via secure remote access and workflow tools (Teams, Slack, Trello)
• Work in digital environments that ensure confidentiality and data security

Required Qualifications

• Completion of secondary education (preferably with an associate's or bachelor's degree)
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Cardiology Coder (CCC), or CCS-P required
• 2+ years of professional experience coding cardiovascular procedures
• Proven understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology in cardiology
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills to interact with clinical and admin teams
